Begonia 'Escargot', Helleborus argutifolius 'Janet Starnes'

 

The sea green leaves of this winter rose (Helleborus) are flecked with cream, earning it a much more prominent place in the shade garden than its plain green leafed siblings. Its leaves are beautiful year round, with the bonus of chartreuse flowers beginning in late winter. At its feet is a begonia in shades of silver and nephrite, its two-part leaves forming a snail shell of sculptural quality
