Hakonechloa m. 'Aureola', Geranium 'Cheryl's
Shadow', Berberis thunbergii ‘Aurea’, Verbena 'Peaches and Cream',
Zinnia 'Profusion Apricot', Hosta ‘Golden Prayers’, Geranium ‘Patricia’
- The repeating elements in this sunny
border help give it cohesion and balance while the contrasting
textures and colors satisfy the eye. The chartreuse and lemon of
the Japanese ribbon grass (Hakonechloa), barberry (Barberis) and
Hosta serve as foils to the deep apricot and creamy peach tones
of the Zinnia and Verbena. Because the plum of ‘Cheryl’s Shadow’
and magenta of ‘Patricia’ are deeper and brighter tints of the
same color, they simultaneously harmonize and contrast with each
other. The cream in an unknown variegated Geranium’s leaf adds
further interest.
